About The Position

This is a Full Time Position Monday - Friday 9 am - 3pm JOB SUMMARY: This is a community based position. The schedule and hours of the position vary depending on cost plans reflecting the specific needs of individuals served. As use of personal vehicle may be required for transport, the Personal Assistant must have reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and be able to obtain an F endorsement on his/her driver's license. The PA will ensure their required training for CPR, NCI, Defensive Driving and any other applicable training remains current. No medications are to be administered by PA staff. The personal assistants' responsibilities include providing the level of support and activities that have been established by the person's Circle of Support Team and approved by DIDD. This support will be provided with a 1:1 staff ratio. The activities may include direct hands on personal care of daily living needs, offering support while participating in recreational activities, attending medical appointments, and exploring the community for interests. The PA should also assist in developing positive relationships and in providing a source of awareness to the productive and positive qualities of people with disabilities. He/she must complete the necessary paperwork, progress notes, and incident reporting that pertain to the requirements of Orange Grove Center and various funding sources. The PA will adhere to the individual's monthly schedule which will be determined by the family and/or individual in collaboration with the PA Manager. The PA must demonstrate a helpful, positive attitude at all times, perform quality work, and work within the policies and procedures of Orange Grove Center and its funding sources.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Reliable transportation
  • Proof of insurance
  • Be able to obtain an F endorsement on his/her driver's license
  • Ensure required training for CPR, NCI, Defensive Driving and any other applicable training remains current
  • Good overall physical health and personal stamina
  • Physical examination, including TB skin test or chest x-ray, is required prior to employment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the field of disabilities or personal care is valuable.
