About The Position

Under general supervision, provide lead direction and technical support for customer service staff and perform full performance level public counter support, technical assistance and clerical processing of a variety of applications, including: food service establishment permits & plan review; temporary food permits; noise permits; beauty & barber shop permits; pool & spa permits; and pesticide applicator permits. Respond to general public questions & complaints around AMC 15 & 16; prepares routine correspondence letters; manages program supplies. Administer and grade food safety tests. Assure strict security, receive and track cash, checks and credit cards, operate cash register, prepare daily activity and cash summary reports, collect daily receipts and deposit in safe, and reconcile division revenues. Assist in initial response and data entry of noise, smoking, and/or housing complaints. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in processing permit or license applications, which includes one (1) year of experience as a Permit Clerk II with the Municipality of Anchorage, or the equivalent elsewhere.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Ability to type at a net speed of 35 WPM at time of application. (Attach certificate to application)
  • Ability to 10 key at a net speed of 125 KSPM at time of application. (Attach certificate to application)
  • State of Alaska Notary Public Commission within three (3) months of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history
