About The Position

The Permanency Support Supervisor supervises key staff assigned to the area and focuses on promoting the well-being of children in the Permanency Services Program. The supervisor participates in staff meetings and training and coordinates with staff involved in providing Permanency services. About Little Flower Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929. Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field from an accredited four-year college or university with 4 years full time child placing experience as a worker or above in a private or state agency.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Familiarity with computers and their capabilities.
  • Knowledge of child welfare policies, especially those related to permanency.
  • Knowledge of OCFS policies, federal regulations, and relevant legal requirements
  • Understanding of ASFA regulations as they relate to foster care youth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team to meet targets, along with a clear understanding of what it takes to accomplish those targets.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in human service or related field with at least 2 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in the administration of a Permanency Services program or the equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directly supervises employees as denoted on the Agency Organizational Chart in accordance with federal, state and/or COA requirements.
  • Provides administrative expertise as required.
  • Ensures the accuracy, content, and completeness of documentation and files.
  • Participates in planning, programming, and budgeting of the Permanency Program.
  • Participates in the development of short, intermediate, and long-range plans and goals for the Permanency Program.
  • Participates in the development of Permanency Policies and Procedures.
  • Assists in organizing program meetings.
  • Conducts program orientation and on-the-job training of staff assigned to the unit.
  • Coordinates community resources for the benefit of children/families served by the Permanency Program.
  • Coordinates with provider placement agencies and contractors on the delivery of services to children and families.
  • Refrains from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and/or interferes with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Provides regular supervision and professional development of Agency employees.
  • Advocates, promotes, and practices cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in all day-to-day interactions.
  • Develops, promotes, and practices teamwork in all activities.
  • Ensure compliance with child welfare, OCFS, and federal regulations by applying strong knowledge of permanency policies, ASFA requirements, and all relevant legal standards in day-to-day casework and decision-making.
