As a Perioperative Educational Program Coordinator, you will work in conjunction with the Professional Development Manager to plan, implement and evaluate departmental orientation and education activities for clinical and support caregivers. This position is a great way to share your knowledge and skills with other caregivers while creating opportunities for others to learn and grow. There are multiple options for professional development in this role, such as certifications, advanced education, distinguished educator certificate and simulation fellowships. A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am to 4:00pm A caregiver who excels in this role will: Plan and implement orientation for new hires. Assist education caregivers in assigning unit preceptors. Assist in interviewing new caregivers. Complete probationary performance evaluations for new hires and participate in annual evaluations with unit managers. Coordinate continuing education and training programs and staff development within the department. Assist in coordinating programs with local colleges and universities. Perform patient care up to 20% of work time in area of clinical expertise in order to demonstrate clinical competence and be able to teach others. Actively assist the management team with ensuring caregiver compliance with regulatory requirements. This may include training and recertification for CPR, ACLS, annual education on fire safety, diversity, code management, HIPPAA and coordination of TB testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Two years of perioperative experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialty with current patient care competence.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, motivational strategies, change theory, group process skills, leadership strategies and teaching.
  • Demonstrated computer skills utilizing clinical systems (Epic/Optime) and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • Certification in perioperative nursing, such as Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR), Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN), etc.
