The Perioperative Care Coordinator is responsible to work with OR leadership coordinating perioperative care for specialty services. The role includes anticipate and plan staffing, equipment and operational support for OR operations. Collaboration with clinical coordinators, surgeons, anesthesia providers, other departments and OR leadership for high quality perioperative delivery of care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a professional nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania seeking Pennsylvania licensure through reciprocity.
  • Five years operating room experience
  • Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch.
  • Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation and high and low frequencies.
  • Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to meet requirements of job description and functions successfully in role of staff perioperative RN.
  • Responsible to assign staffing based upon specialty needs and staffing skills mix
  • Resource for specialty service providing support to clinical staff, including developing, implementing and sustaining effective protocols and procedures using effective communication and leadership.
  • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with surgeons in planning, implementing and evaluation of the care to the surgical patients as a service line.
  • Supports OR leadership with quality metrics strategies, data collection and PI projects.
  • Presents self as role model for professional behavior and demonstrate ability to engage staff with surgical teamwork
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize work and time management
  • Responsible to maintain computer preference card and pick list computer information including developing, updating and maintaining surgical profiles.
  • Collaborates perioperative nursing educator identifying staff needs and providing in-services appropriate to their services
  • Works collaboratively with other departments including but limited to SPD, storeroom, purchasing, biomedical, radiology and other departments.
