About The Position

The Perioperative Business Manager and Data Analyst is responsible for providing strategic, operational, and financial oversight to the perioperative service line. This role ensures efficient business operations, accurate and actionable analytics, and data-driven decision support for surgical services. The position partners closely with perioperative leadership, surgeons, finance, IT, and operational stakeholders to optimize performance, enhance patient access, and support sustainable financial growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Data Analytics, or related Healthcare field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in healthcare operations, business management, data analytics, or perioperative services.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data visualization/reporting tools (QVentus, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and/or OR management platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures for business functions within the surgical services department.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle teams to ensure timely and accurate charge capture, coding, and documentation.
  • Support optimization of scheduling templates, block allocations, and access strategies to maximize OR efficiency and surgeon satisfaction.
  • Oversee business operations within perioperative services, including scheduling workflows, block management, revenue capture processes, and operational reporting.
  • Coordinate with surgical services leadership to identify opportunities to improve OR utilization, staffing alignment, case flow, and throughput.
  • Monitor perioperative KPIs such as first-case on-time starts, turnover times, block utilization, case volumes, and cancellation trends.
  • Serve as the primary analyst for perioperative data, producing actionable dashboards and reports using internal reporting tools.
  • Analyze trends in case volume, case mix, resource utilization, financial performance, and workforce productivity.
  • Build and maintain automated reports that support daily operations, leadership strategy, and monthly/annual performance reviews.
  • Translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations for operational and clinical leaders.
  • Provide ad hoc analytics for strategic planning, capital planning, and service line development.
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial variance analysis for perioperative services.
  • Evaluate financial impact of operational initiatives, equipment purchases, scheduling changes, and strategic growth opportunities.
  • Support contract evaluations, vendor performance assessments, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Track and report financial indicators including contribution margins, cost per case, and supply utilization trends.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and organizational policies related to perioperative operations and data management.
  • Support quality and safety initiatives by providing data, analysis, and trend tracking.
  • Partner with quality and clinical teams on initiatives related to patient access, efficiency, and performance improvement.
  • Serve as a key liaison between perioperative operations, finance, IT, analytics, and medical staff.
  • Present complex data and operational concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership and physician partners.
  • Provide education to leaders and front-line staff on data interpretation and operational metrics.
  • Lead or support committees, workgroups, and performance-improvement projects related to perioperative efficiency and business operations.
