About The Position

The Performance Intern will assist with the design, implementation, and monitoring of strength and conditioning programs for the University of Tulsa’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams. In addition, the intern will assume lead responsibility for Women’s Golf and Spirit programs when both basketball performance coaches are traveling. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in a Division I performance setting while supporting student-athlete development, safety, and performance outcomes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field (or in final year of completion).
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of exercise technique, training principles, and program design.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • CSCS (NSCA) or SCCC (CSCCa) certification, or actively working toward completion.
  • Previous experience in collegiate or professional strength and conditioning setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily strength and conditioning sessions for Men’s and Women’s Basketball.
  • Lead training sessions for Women’s Golf and Spirit programs during periods of basketball staff travel.
  • Ensure proper exercise technique, safety standards, and injury prevention strategies during all training sessions.
  • Assist with weight room setup, breakdown, and equipment maintenance.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of athlete performance metrics, wellness, and load management.
  • Support recovery, mobility, and corrective exercise programming as directed by the Basketball Performance Coaches.
  • Maintain effective communication with sport coaches, athletic trainers, and sports medicine staff.
  • Model professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic at all times.
