About The Position

CGI has an immediate need for a Performance Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting one of the largest customers. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an agile environment using emerging technologies. We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!. This role is located at a client site in Reston, VA or Plano, TX. A hybrid working model is acceptable. We are seeking an experienced Performance Test Lead to drive performance testing efforts for complex, enterprise-scale applications developed as part of strategic initiatives. In this role, you will take ownership of performance test planning, estimation, prioritization, and execution while ensuring high standards of quality and reliability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define performance requirements, identify risks, and provide actionable insights through monitoring, analysis, and tuning. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in performance engineering, sound technical judgment, and the ability to lead performance testing strategy across programs using both Agile and Waterfall delivery models.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of overall IT industry experience
  • 5+ years of dedicated performance testing experience
  • Strong background in performance testing across load, latency, scalability, and high availability scenarios
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, Performance Center, JMeter, or comparable open-source solutions
  • Solid understanding of software QA methodologies, testing processes, and best practices
  • Proven ability to plan, estimate, prioritize, and document performance testing activities
  • Experience analyzing performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and supporting tuning efforts
  • Broad technical understanding to contribute to or influence detailed technical designs
  • Ability to define and lead the performance engineering vision for large or complex programs
  • Comfortable working in both Agile and Waterfall development environments
  • Clear, confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Sound decision-making skills and the confidence to guide teams through performance-related challenges

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant testing or performance engineering certifications are a plus but not mandatory
