Per Diem WCP Clinician
About The Position
The Clinician provides both direct and indirect behavioral health services to clients in the Women & Children residential program. This role is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients in accordance with State of Connecticut licensing requirements and agency credentialing standards, with approval from the Program Manager. Direct services include assessment interviews, treatment planning, and individual, family, and group therapy. Indirect services involve documentation, supervision, case conferences, insurance authorizations, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The Clinician supports clients in achieving both recovery and parenting goals. Flexibility is essential, as the schedule may include evening or weekend hours.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work, with a valid Connecticut State license from the Department of Public Health (LMSW or LCSW), or Connecticut licensure as a Professional Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist (LPC-A, LMFT-A).
- Experience working with clients diagnosed with substance use disorders.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Nice To Haves
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (L.A.D.C) credential is preferred but not required in addition to primary licensure.
- Preferred training or experience in: ASAM Criteria for Addictive, Substance-Related, and Co-Occurring Conditions Co-occurring disorders, including prevalence, signs/symptoms, assessment, treatment approaches, and the impact of personal attitudes/beliefs on service delivery Administration of naloxone in response to opioid overdose
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations, treatment plans, discharge planning, and crisis intervention for program participants.
- Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based, research-supported interventions related to substance use, mental health, trauma, and parenting.
- Present clinical updates for each client during weekly treatment team rounds and ensure treatment recommendations are clearly communicated and supported.
- Participate in and advocate for clients during Department of Children and Families (DCF) meetings and other case conferences involving client resources and supports.
- Adhere to the agency’s and credentialing body’s Code of Ethics and actively engage in advocacy initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with referral sources, contractors, and community agencies; represent the agency at outreach events as assigned.
- Coordinate with managed care companies to secure treatment authorizations and continued stay approvals.
- Prepare and submit timely written reports for clients, referral sources, DCF, Department of Corrections, Court Support Services, employers, and other stakeholders.
- Support daily residential operations, including supervising smoke breaks, conducting supervised drug screenings, monitoring self-administration of medication, providing transportation, and assisting clients in completing daily living activities for themselves and their children.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, agency committees, and required trainings (on- or off-site) as determined by leadership.
- Provide coverage for colleagues during absences to maintain residential staffing standards and ensure weekly service delivery requirements are met.
