About The Position

The Heritage Oaks Patient Enrichment Center, more commonly known as the ‘HOPE Center,’ is a newly constructed, state of the art, 16-bed, Psychiatric Health Facility, serving the acute psychiatric needs of the community in concert with the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services. Website: https://sacramentohopecenter.com/ The LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) administers nursing care to designated patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties as necessary. Assists in the delivery of patient care in an acute psychiatric setting for patients experiencing a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Assists the RN in assessing for pain, utilizes pain scale and documents, accordingly, assessing the patient’s response to interventions: Communicates these findings to staff. Informs Charge/Staff Nurse informed of events that may change staffing needs such as: admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient in crisis. As well as informing staff of patients with potential risk of injury due to falls or self-destructive or assaultive behavior; implements fall precautions, and potential risk to others. Ability to recognize when a patient needs 1:1 intervention and interacts therapeutically. Informs Charge/Staff Nurse of significant developments and documents in progress note. Shift: Per Diem | 11pm - 7:30am

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited LVN program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and milieu management
  • Current California LVN or LPT license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Completion of Handle with Care (HWC) training within 30 days of hire
  • Successful completion of medication administration and developmental competency exams
  • Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and acuity
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
