Your Role on the Team Position Summary: The incumbent performs abstracting and coding on assigned outpatient work queue for visits at UCI Medical Center. Additional duties may include preparing and compiling daily, weekly and monthly production reports, participating in departmental PI projects and performing related duties as assigned to meet operational need.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of acute hospital coding experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Credentialed as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
  • Skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the job duties
  • Skill to effectively assign codes
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently and be a self starter
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
