About The Position

Partners with the Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine and the VP, JMG Operations, to manage day to day operations of the Emergency Medicine Department. Responsible for the financial management and oversight of Emergency Medicine clinical practices, TJUH assigned accounts and TJU academic and research activities. Serves as the liaison to finance and revenue cycle. Thomas Jefferson University and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Administration, as well as other divisional and service line leadership. The Administrator is responsible to provide leadership and direction to ensure adherence to the Department’s strategic plan and the University mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive management experience in healthcare related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or another related field preferred.
  • Continued involvement in various healthcare management professional organizations (e.g., American College of Healthcare Executives, Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley, National Association of Healthcare Quality, Temple University Healthcare Management Alumni Association, etc.) maintaining and upgrading of certifications (e.g., CHE, CPHQ) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in the conception, planning, development and implementation of new and existing business and programs.
  • Enhances operational effectiveness, emphasizing cost containment with consideration to the goals of the Department of Emergency Medicine and its faculty.
  • Conversant of business practices relating to a Emergency Medicine practice, including understanding of the role that physicians play in an academic medical center, and its multiple missions of teaching, research and patient care.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery and research.
  • Continually monitors operations and programs. Initiates changes as appropriate.
  • Partners with leadership to insure integration with other divisions, including privileging, credentialing, onboarding, and training.
  • Will insure correct financial structure and Epic build has been completed for revenue and expenses.
  • Review and approve grant application submissions for ORA and clinical trial submissions for OSA as the Department’s Administrator.
  • Review process includes the completion of appropriate internal forms, accurate budgetary information, and appropriate signatures.
  • Responsible for handling all paperwork for multiple contracts submitted to ORA for new and existing sponsors.
  • Meets deadline(s) in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain grant file(s) for each individual sponsored program grant account.
  • Prepare budgets for JUP, JMC and TJUH as assigned.
  • Be familiar with and assist in the preparation and execution of research budget proposals, and to provide the appropriate financial oversight of those budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
