About The Position

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) seeks a collaborative and customer‑focused PeopleSoft Systems Administrator to support PeopleSoft infrastructure and operations across the UW enterprise. This role operates in a dynamic environment and contributes to the implementation and rollout of new technologies, with an emphasis on automation, standardization, and cross‑team collaboration. The PeopleSoft environments supported by this position enable critical enterprise‑wide applications. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, time‑management, and decision‑making skills. This position includes providing system support outside of regular business hours. DoIT provides core IT infrastructure services to the university, develops and implements services for the university and in some cases, for the Universities of Wisconsin, plays a major role in managing the state-wide higher education network and regional networks. This position is eligible for any of the following: 100% remote work; partial remote work; or fully on-site. Remote work requires an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. An RWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee. Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) helps administrative units provide enterprise resource planning (ERP) services to UW–‍Madison and Universities of Wisconsin constituents. EBS groups are formed around the ERPs (HRS, SFS, Madison SIS, CRM) and key administrative units. EBS supports cloud applications, on-premise vendor solutions, and custom systems through business analysis, application design, programming, integration, testing and project management. ERP Administration provides system administration and database administration support for PeopleSoft and Oracle for the systems mentioned in the other groups in EBS. Additionally, the group supports Informatica, OBIEE, and ERPs local to other campuses.

Requirements

  • Professional experience demonstrating effective technical knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning applications, with particular emphasis on Oracle PeopleSoft (7 years preferred)
  • Professional experience with configuring and maintaining PeopleSoft ERP enterprise application software
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and solve highly complex problems with application and database management system infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience writing technical documentation and working with customers that are not technical
  • Demonstrated experience producing clear, accurate technical documentation and effectively collaborating with non‑technical customers to translate complex concepts into accessible language.
  • Proficient with collaboration tools (e.g., WebEx, Box).

Nice To Haves

  • Strong Customer Service experience in PeopleSoft enterprise technology environments with emphasis on communication, technical documentation, and Service Level Agreement (SLA) commitments.
  • Experience as a PSAdmin with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Financials, or Human Capital Management (HCM).
  • Experience with PeopleSoft DPK's, PUM, and Open Search technology.
  • Experience with scripting PeopleSoft solutions (startup and shutdown scripts, monitoring scripts, notifications, etc.).
  • Experience with integrating SAML authentication with PeopleSoft technology stack.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Enterprise Resource Planning database and applications within the UW organization.
  • Knowledge of complex business/transaction processing at the UW System and campus level, and experience working within the UW organization

Responsibilities

  • Creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts to maintain ERP systems security through user profile management
  • Oversee operations within work assignments; assist team members with work assignments, delegate tasks and set deadlines when required.
  • Designs, configures, monitors, and maintains performance metrics for system features and recommends and takes corrective/preventive actions
  • Recommends and participates in the implementation of ERP system enhancements or changes that may involve custom design, optional, and third-party products
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements system-wide updates, upgrades, and patches for ERP systems
  • Troubleshoots hardware, software, and system problems that involve ERP system-wide functionality
  • Assists management team by advising on enterprise information technology operations and business models
  • Assists in serving as the liaison representing interests to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with management, clients, and external consultants to establish objectives, ensure alignment, and consistently exceed customer expectations and team performance goals
  • Participates in the design, development, and implementation of test and production objects.
  • Defines user requirements and performs configuration, change management, and testing activities
