The People Partner is responsible for providing case management support to employees and managers, escalated by the HR Service Delivery Team. This role offers country policy expertise and professional HR knowledge to support and educate leaders, managers, and associates on all People topics within the assigned country. Key responsibilities include resolving employee relations issues, advising leaders on HR-related matters and policies, and partnering closely with Employee Relations to maintain a cohesive relationship with the union. The People Partner also oversees the delivery of Case Management (including underperformance, disciplinary, grievance, and sickness absence), business changes, in-country projects, and cyclical HR processes on behalf of Global HR Business Partners and People Enablement, while also supporting employee relations queries. The role ensures a legally compliant HR service and provides data and insights on activity volume, trends, issues, concerns, and success stories. This position reports to the People Partner Cluster Lead and involves close collaboration across the broader HR function and directly with the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree of any relevant discipline and 10+ years of relevant working experience
  • Experience in Human Resources at pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology companies
  • Proven success partnering and collaborating with stakeholders’ cross-functionally and at all levels
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise sound judgement based on policies, procedures, practices, and risk factors
  • Proven experience and function as a natural collaborator who is authentic, transparent and aligns with the Astellas values and code of conduct
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to inspire trust and confidence and effectively influence the decision-making process
  • Self-starter and ability to manage a workload of varying complexity to a high standard
  • Experience across core HR functions in affiliate (e.g. Compensation, Benefits, Performance Management, etc.) with specific experience in HR process design, transaction support and employee administration
  • A broad understanding of the HR employee lifecycle
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office, Outlook, Teams, Excel

  • Experience in managing high risk employment-related cases from intake to investigation to resolution
  • Master’s degree
  • SPHR or PHR certification

Responsibilities

  • Providing case management support to employees and managers which have been escalated by the HR Service Delivery Team
  • Providing country policy expertise and professional HR knowledge to support and educate leaders, managers, and associates on all People topics
  • Resolving employee relations issues, support and advise leaders on HR-related matters & policies
  • Partnering closely with Employee Relations to enable a cohesive relationship with the union
  • Delivering of Case Management (i.e. underperformance, disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence), business changes, in-country projects, and cyclical HR processes on behalf of Global HR Business Partners and People Enablement in addition to providing support for employee relations queries
  • Delivering a legally compliant HR service in line with identified needs
  • Providing data and insights on the volume of activity, trends, issues, concerns, and success stories
  • Reporting to People Partner Cluster Lead and working closely across the broader HR function and directly with the business
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and HR Business Partners to deliver end-to-end business change projects (for example- business restructure)
  • Work closely with broader HR Project teams to deliver in-country project work
  • Manage multiple projects; identifying risks, dependencies, overlaps and conflicts (both within and outside of HR) and ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Maintain a mind-set of continuous improvement to identify opportunities to improve the services provided by HR
  • Provide solutions to resolve case management queries escalated
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues and policy interpretation
  • Monitor and track trends in employee relations queries to proactively identify issues and identify opportunities to overcome these trends
  • Escalate complex case management queries to People Partner Cluster Lead, HR Business Partners or Employment Legal as appropriate
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and People Enablement to execute and deliver cyclical HR processes (e.g. talent, performance and reward cycles)
  • Act as a thought partner to HR Business Partners and People Enablement to ensure that global solutions work locally and that local HR requirements are met
  • Execute activity on behalf of People Enablment teams for processes that are outside of the scope of services provided by the Shared Service Centre
  • Provide mentorship and counselling on local policies and processes
  • Deliver trainings and workshops for local leadership teams and various employee populations on different HR topics
  • Draw people insights from available real-time reports to identify and address opportunities for improvement
  • Act as interface to other Organization HR Sub-Divisions
  • Collaborate with Legal, Ethics & Compliance, HR Business Partners and People Enablement Teams to provide the appropriate level of support required
  • Work supportively and collaboratively with other teams across HR
  • Maintain a proactive approach, taking the initiative and managing self effectively
  • Build relationships and trust with key stakeholders
  • Seek opportunities to continually improve the services provided by HR
