About The Position

As the People & Culture Manager, you model the Fairmont Century Plaza values of respect, integrity, teamwork, and empowerment through leadership that facilitates extraordinary careers and lasting memories for the People & Culture and Hotel team. Responsible for record keeping for all colleagues, processing all new hires, departures, handling inquiries via telephone, emails or walk in.

Requirements

  • Previous Human Resources experience required
  • Previous luxury hospitality experience required
  • University/College degree or diploma in a related discipline required
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills complimented by excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Enthusiastic and positive personality with the ability to build strong relationships and handle confidential and sensitive matters
  • Highly responsible, reliable, and have the innate ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Proven desire to be involved in maintaining guest service excellence by providing quality service to our internal guests
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and HRIS
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and non-verbal
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Responsibilities

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Promote positive Colleague relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust, mutual respect, and fun
  • Support in overseeing the day to day operation of the People & Culture Department and play a critical role in the implementation of the People & Culture strategy
  • Use a variety of methods to promote Fairmont Century Plaza's standards and maintaining consistent colleague communication including but not limited to updating bulletin boards, daily pre-shifts, and training materials as needed
  • Take lead on the overall management of the office, including greeting and assisting colleagues who come to the office, ensuring office supplies are kept up to stock, daily filing of documents, ensuring the timely completion of all administrative requests and duties
  • Coordinate and facilitate various training sessions including New Hire Orientation
  • Support with completion of forms, maintaining 19 files, filing, copying, office organization, applicant greeting and pre-screening, and telephone coverage
  • Data input and tracking of information into People & Culture Systems (employee action forms, new hire files, status changes, training, benefits, pension, payroll audit trail, etc.) and file on a daily basis following filing legend
  • Coordinate ID cards and name badges for all new hires with Security
  • Act with complete discretion and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive matters
  • Act as a resource for all colleagues of the hotel, and assist in resolving colleague questions, complaints, or issues as they arise
  • Work with Payroll to ensure all payroll records are up to date on a bi-weekly basis
  • Act as the main contact for the Heartist recognition committee
  • Support all department managers with questions and colleague activities including various committees such as the CSR committee, the Safety committee, and the DE&I committee
  • Provide service and support to all colleagues with regards to eligibility, enrollment, and participation in all applicable benefit plans, including the coordination of benefit information seminars
  • Working knowledge of CBA agreements within the Hotel
  • Administrative assistance and tracking of all short-term disability, long-term disability, FMLA, Leave of Absences, and Workers’ Compensation claims
  • Supporting a work environment reflective of Fairmont’s values
  • Other duties as assigned
