About The Position

As the People & Culture Generalist at Fuku, you’ll be at the center of everything that makes our team run smoothly. This role is equal parts builder, problem-solver, and partner; supporting day-to-day needs while helping lay the foundation for scalable, people-first operations. You’ll contribute across hiring, onboarding, offboarding, HRIS management, payroll, compliance, and employee experience initiatives, ensuring our processes are not only efficient but also rooted in Fuku’s values. Reporting directly to and working hand-in-hand with the VP, People, you’ll operate as a true partner, dividing and conquering priorities, learning from one another, and growing the People function together. This role is designed for someone who wants both ownership and collaboration. You’ll take the lead in key operational areas like payroll and HRIS, while also partnering closely on employee relations, engagement initiatives, performance cycles, and manager support. Together, we show up as strong, aligned partners to the business, focused on equipping our leaders to create a supportive, high-performing work environment across all restaurant units and HQ functions. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving the systems that support our team, including hiring, onboarding, compliance, and data integrity. As we scale, you won’t just execute processes, you’ll help improve them. Preference will be given to candidates located in the United States within the Central (CDT) or Eastern (EST) time zones to support effective team collaboration. Work Location: This is a remote role open to candidates based anywhere in the United States. To support effective collaboration with our restaurant teams, preference will be given to candidates located in the Central (CDT) or Eastern (EST) time zones, with a strong preference for those based in Florida, Georgia, or neighboring Southeastern states who can occasionally travel to restaurant locations or support in-person needs as required. Salary: $90,000 annual salary + 15% bonus potential

Requirements

  • You bring at least 3 years of experience in HR or People Operations, ideally within a fast-paced, hospitality, restaurant, or multi-unit environment where operational excellence is key
  • You are highly organized, reliable, and take full ownership of execution with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • You have hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (Rippling is a plus), payroll processing, and employment documentation, and you know how to keep systems running cleanly and efficiently
  • You thrive in a role that touches both frontline teams and HQ functions, and you understand how to meet the unique needs of each
  • You are a clear, confident communicator who can explain processes simply, solve problems calmly, and represent the People function with professionalism and care
  • You recognize that every interaction matters and bring a thoughtful approach to the candidate and employee experience, knowing that how we show up in the small moments reflects who we are as a company

Responsibilities

  • Own and process end-to-end payroll with accuracy and timeliness
  • Administer benefits programs, including 401(k) coordination and audit support
  • Partner with external vendors to ensure compliance and smooth execution
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries
  • Own and optimize our HRIS (Rippling), ensuring data integrity and system reliability
  • Execute employee lifecycle workflows, including onboarding, offboarding, status changes, and check-ins
  • Maintain audit-ready employee records and documentation
  • Identify and implement system improvements to streamline processes
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations
  • Support audits, documentation tracking, labor law postings, and policy updates
  • Ensure required trainings and compliance deliverables are completed and tracked
  • Execute and track 30/60/90-day check-ins and performance cycles through our HRIS
  • Support feedback processes, documentation, and communication workflows
  • Assist in preparing resources for onboarding, offboarding, and recognition
  • Partner with the VP, People on employee relations matters
  • Support documentation, investigation follow-up, and process execution
  • Help triage incoming issues and ensure timely, thoughtful resolution
  • Serve as a trusted resource for restaurant managers and HQ leaders
  • Respond to team member questions with clarity and care
  • Contribute ideas to improve engagement, recognition, communication, and team clarity
  • Surface patterns, insights, and opportunities to strengthen the employee experience
