About The Position

The Peer Lead will, support the Involvement Centre Coordinator and the mental health engagement and recovery team, to set up and develop the Waterford Involvement centre, in line with, and following the model already in place in Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary. This person will be a full and integral member of the Peer led Involvement Centre team, providing practical assistance in the development of this service and supporting people who access the service, helping them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery journey. The Peer Lead will take a lead role in embedding recovery values within the service in which they work, alongside other Recovery Champions and act as an ambassador for recovery for the HSE with external agencies and organisations. The Peer Lead will use their expertise gained through lived experience to inspire hope and recovery. They will facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for connection with local communities. The Peer Lead will work to develop and grow involvement centres, making connections with other colleagues within mental health services, supporting volunteers and working under the supervision of their line manager. The Peer Lead will also develop links with the community mental health teams the new crisis resolution service, which includes the Solas community café team, to support them further on their recovery journey. The HSE Model of Care for Crisis Resolution Services includes, the development of Solas community Café team, operating in a non-clinical safe environment, providing an out of hours service aimed at preventing crises and offering support during evenings and weekends. The Peer Lead will develop links with the Solas community café to further support a person on their recovery journey.

Responsibilities
