About The Position

The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) assigned to PCMH/OTP Community-Based Services focuses on providing one-on-one support and assisting with day-to-day problem-solving for normalization and reintegration into the community. The PSS employs best practices of assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support to engage with members both in the community and within the facility, while embracing the recovery philosophy and fostering a safe and inclusive recovery environment for clients. Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in the Behavioral Health and/or Substance Abuse field required
  • Minimum of six months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders required
  • Current AZ Driver's License (Valid and in good standing)
  • Clear 39-month Motor Vehicle Record
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) or able to obtain a CPSS certification within 90 days (3 months) of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Addiction and Substances Use Disorders certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform only the duties of a Peer Support Specialist
  • Address one-on-one support needs
  • Provide support for day-to-day problem-solving related to normalization and reintegration into the community
  • Utilize best practices of assertive engagement, harm reduction and peer support when working to engage with members in the community and the facility
  • Embrace the recovery philosophy and promote a safe and inclusive recovery environment for clients
