About The Position

Crestwood is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join their team. For over 50 years, Crestwood has been dedicated to creating innovative recovery programs and supportive communities, focusing on a personal and self-directed process that empowers clients to develop skills for thriving. Peer Support Specialists are individuals with lived experience of recovery from mental health, substance use, or trauma conditions. They provide direct services, guiding and supporting others facing similar challenges towards increased wellness. This role involves a personal commitment to one's own recovery, maintaining it over time, completing specialized training, and sharing learned recovery insights in an inspirational manner. The position is located at the Crestwood Fallbrook Healing Center, a Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) in Fallbrook, Northern San Diego County, which facilitates successful reintegration through various modalities including classes, therapy, community service, and peer mentorship.

Requirements

Minimum of a high school diploma/GED
A mental health/SUD lived experience
80-hour Peer Support Learning or equivalent – successfully completed within 90 days of hire or has taken the training within 2 years of hire
Has current techniques of behavioral intervention training within six (6) months of hire

Responsibilities

Provide direct services with a personal experience of recovery from mental health, substance use, or trauma conditions
Guide and support others who are experiencing similar mental health, substance use, or trauma issues toward increased wellness
Work in mutuality with others
Share what has been learned about recovery in an inspirational way
