We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join our community residential programs in Newport, NH. In this role, you will: Build authentic, supportive relationships with residents Advocate for individuals as they navigate their personal goals Facilitate education and guidance around daily living skills Serve as a positive role model and mentor Provide person-centered, recovery‑oriented support in a home‑like setting This position offers flexible weekday hours and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of residents preparing for greater independence. --------------------------------- Job Summary The Peer Support Recovery Specialist (PSRS) provides recovery support and life skills education to include the dimensions of wellness to housing participants recovering from mental health, substance use, and/or co-occurring disorders. These participants are individuals who are voluntarily transferred from an inpatient mental health facility with high acuity. The PSRS works to build recovery capital with housing program participants, connecting them with recovery community organizations, peer support agencies, and support networks. PSRS serves as a role model and mentor to participants within the housing programs. The PSRS will provide one-on-one coaching sessions with participants. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the facilitation of skills groups for participants in the housing program.

Requirements

  • Having a personal lived experience of mental health and/or substance use disorder.
  • 3 current years of uninterrupted recovery from mental health and/or addiction recovery.
  • Must be eligible for Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) with the State of New Hampshire.
  • Must be eligible for Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) by the State of New Hampshire.
  • 3 Years of experience working in the mental health/substance use system of care.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care.
  • Understanding of Crisis intervention

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one coaching sessions to participants in the transitional housing program.
  • Facilitate skills groups for the participants in the transitional housing program.
  • Provide day-to-day tangible support, including mentoring, role modeling, and recovery education to residents in the Housing Programs.
  • Must be open to all pathways of recovery, including mutual aid meetings, medication-assisted recovery, and harm reduction.
  • Complete documentation in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain available and reliable transportation and the required auto insurance coverage.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
