About The Position

We are seeking apassionate and dedicated Peer Specialist with lived experience to provide support for individuals transitioning from jail or prison into themunity. The Peer Specialist will work closely with clients during their first-year post-release, offering guidance, emotional support, and connecting them with resources. Additionally, this role will involve engaging with referrals to establish long-term linkages to programs and services that promote successful re-entry.

Requirements

  • Certified Peer Recovery Supporter required.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and insurance.
  • As a healthcare provider, Southeast Healthcare is a non-smoking employer.
  • Staff members are required to be vaccinated for the flu.
  • Religious and medical exemptions may be requested during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with clients using lived experience to offer guidance and support as they reintegrate into society.
  • Assist clients in connecting with essentialmunity resources such as housing, employment services, education, healthcare, and mental health support.
  • Advocate for clients within social service systems, assisting them in navigating barriers to accessing necessary resources and support.
  • Encourage and facilitate participation in re-entry programs, providing the motivation and support necessary for clients to achieve their goals.
