About The Position

Works in conjunction with the manager of the Physician Peer Review System to coordinate the Peer Review processes. Must have the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals at all levels to facilitate the physician peer review process. Reviews and gathers medical record data to support case reviews which are determined by established triggers and/or referrals from staff, providers, or customers (patients/families) and/or department leaders. The Peer Review Specialist will prepare cases in a standard format for formal review by their respective Peer Review Committees. Attends Physician Peer Review meetings and serves as a liaison between various committees to facilitate communication and referral of cases for further physician review, and report results back to referring committee. Assists with preparation of Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) reports. Oversees physician peer review data is entered into the Credentialing Program in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree
  • Minimum of one year experience in a hospital setting or other healthcare related environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management (Medical Records) or other Healthcare related field.
