About The Position

The Peer Review Coordinator supports the physician peer review and on-going improvement initiatives of the peer review process. This role collaborates with the medical staff leaders to drive process improvement and ensures patient safety. The position is full-time, day shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, and is an onsite role at the Yale Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The coordinator will manage, collect, review, interpret, and analyze physician peer review data, facilitate physician leadership meetings, identify performance variances, establish procedures for tracking clinical performance issues, coordinate special projects, and report findings to executive leadership and medical staff president. The role requires independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision and involves frequent interaction with internal/external customers and healthcare professionals, including individuals at the Director level or above. Requirements

  • Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in peer review or clinical position within healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, analytical/statistical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-faceted, time-critical work environment.
  • Strong PC skills with familiarity utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database applications.
  • Superior presentation and delivery skills.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and manage clinical data and information.
  • Proficient knowledge of hospital organization and policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in lieu of nursing education may be considered.
  • Valid multi-state or Registered Nurse License, preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in quality or risk management, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, collects, reviews, interprets and analyzes physician peer review data.
  • Facilitates physician leadership meetings to discuss patient safety related concerns.
  • Identifies and analyzes hospital-based approved performance variances and complications.
  • Establishes procedures for identifying and tracking clinical performance and/or unprofessional conduct issues that warrant physician peer review.
  • Coordinates special projects and other organizational performance initiatives as needed.
  • Ensures the relevant findings, conclusions, and recommendations resulting from peer review.
  • Attends credentialing and professional peer evaluation committee meetings monthly to report trends and issues to the executive leadership team and the medical staff president.
