About The Position

The Children’s Network of Hillsborough is committed to working with the community to protect children and preserve families. The primary objective of this role is to foster the success and development of the Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) program, as well as the staff and clients involved. PRS Supervisors will champion the Peer Recovery Specialist role and its services both within the organization and in the broader community. They will encourage the professional and personal growth of Peer Specialists while adhering to established human resource standards and will provide guidance and support for Peer Recovery Specialists in their daily responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Certified Peer Specialist through the Florida Certification Board
  • Two to three years peer recovery experience
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with clients, colleagues, and community members while actively listening to understand and support client needs.
  • Empathy and compassion are essential, enabling the specialist to relate to clients through shared experiences while maintaining professional boundaries and demonstrating patience and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are needed to build trust and foster positive relationships that promote recovery and resilience.
  • Valid driver’s license required, with proof of insurance
  • Driver’s license check is a requirement
  • Criminal background screening (fingerprinting) (Local Law Enforcement and FBI/FDLE)
  • Drug Screening is a requirement
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, policies, and regulations is essential.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from various stakeholders of the agency.
  • This position also requires the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations for managing time, tracking schedules, and recording client progress.
  • They should also be able to analyze and interpret numerical data, such as engagement metrics, client progress reports, or program outcomes.
  • Additionally, the supervisor may need to manage budgets or track expenses related to program activities, requiring attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate strong reasoning abilities to navigate the complexities of their role. This includes critical thinking skills to analyze situations, identify underlying issues, and develop appropriate solutions to support clients on their recovery journey.
  • Logical reasoning is essential for making sound decisions, especially in high-pressure or crisis situations, while maintaining a calm and supportive demeanor.
  • They should also possess the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines to ensure compliance and uphold professional standards.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods, particularly when attending meetings, events, or engaging with clients in various community settings.
  • The role may require occasional lifting of materials or equipment, such as training materials, brochures, or office supplies, generally not exceeding 20 pounds.
  • Additionally, the position may involve moderate travel, requiring the ability to drive or use public transportation to attend off-site appointments, community events, or meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Assign referrals received for the Peer Recovery program to individual Peer Recovery Specialists within their designated circuit.
  • Coordinate the participation of specific Peer Recovery Specialists in judicial appointments, community events, and network staffing meetings where their presence is required.
  • Track measurable data to assess the engagement of Peer Recovery Specialists with their assigned clients.
  • Provide staff with the resources, guidance, and knowledge needed to effectively engage with their assigned clients.
  • Offer staff strength-based feedback, promote workplace wellness, and remain accessible to support the successful completion of their job responsibilities.
  • Assist all onboarded staff in obtaining the CRPS Certification from the Florida Certification Board, as required by their role.
  • Ensure all PRS staff deliver services that align with the Code of Ethics agreed upon during the CRPS Certification process.
  • Maintain a personal caseload while fulfilling all supervisory responsibilities.
