About The Position
We are seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to join our Outpatient Substance Use Program. You will provide direct client services and support one-on-one and/or in a group setting. A Peer Recovery Specialist is a unique and important role when supporting clients through their recovery process.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year in recovery from a substance use disorder
- Completed Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification
- Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance
Responsibilities
- Facilitate weekly support group and individual activities.
- Provide clients and potential clients with support and building a trusting relationship.
- Provide information about services and referrals
- Provide hope, encouragement and support through the phases of recovery.
- Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible.
- Educate staff about the recovery process, and the damaging role that stigma can play in undermining recovery.
- Complete all required documentation and case notes accurately.
