Sante is seeking a Part-Time Peer Program Assistant. The Peer Program Assistant is a presence for the members to interact with and assists with the daily operations of the Center. You will be responsible for encouraging member participation in groups as well as engaging with members (socialization, gets games started, initiates activities or discussions, etc.). The Program Assistant assists members in peer-to-peer support discussion (in person or on telephone) with personal issues or in groups, assisting with linkages to services and activities and people.

Requirements

  • This position requires the employee to become WRAP certified, and NAMI Connection Support Group Facilitator certified, within six (6) months of employment.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) OR one to three months related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Peer Recovery Specialist Certification (CPRS) OR willingness to be certified within a one (1) year of employment (Sante will pay for your certification if you do not have it at the time of hire)
  • At least two (2) years in full recovery AND three (3) years of lived experience with mental illness, substance abuse, or a co-occurring disorder.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have access to a vehicle to use for business purposes, which may include transporting consumers. The employee must possess a valid Driver’s License, proof of current automobile insurance and may not have more than two (2) points on their driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Is expected to work on site during core open hours, including time for pre and post hours
  • Performs orientation for new members
  • Opens, closes and facilitates the daily operations of the center (Including, but not limited to cleaning up, doing dishes, wiping tables, cleaning, setting up snacks and drinks, creating the daily sign in sheets listing activities, recycling, organizing papers and books, etc…)
  • Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Enters new member data and attendance records
  • Creates correspondences, including requests for donations, etc
  • Keeps track of and replenishes program supplies
  • Operates 4 line telephone system, which includes the “warm line,” to answer incoming calls to Center, according to departmental protocols
  • Monitors member usage of the telephone system.
  • Retrieves messages from voice mail and returns calls, logs them, and forwards to Director
  • Welcomes on-site visitors and members and directs them to the appropriate personnel or department
  • Gives potential members appropriate information packets (ie: SSWRC application, calendar, brochure, and any flyers of interest)
  • Tracks visitor data, including new membership applications
  • Tracks monthly, quarterly, and annual data of new visitors, visitor to member ratio, non-duplicated counts of individuals served in person and possibly, on phone, and other data as required
  • Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating. (monthly petty cash, flyers for various events, calendars, etc)
  • Creates flyers for events, in MS Word and other programs if applicable and available
  • Facilitates support group membership meetings and activities
  • Coordinates with Director in scheduling activities, and developing new groups
  • Drives other members to nearby events
  • Check work e-mail according to agency protocol
  • Participate in and complete all required trainings
  • Other duties as assigned
