About The Position

Position Summary Competencies for Career Readiness Critical Thinking - Peer Outreach Aide ( POA ) will apply critical thinking skills to develop and implement creative outreach and recruitment strategies that effectively identify, engage, and encourage eligible students to participate in TRIO SSS programs. Evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts and adjust approaches based on feedback and outcomes. Professionalism: Demonstrate professionalism through reliable communication, timely task completion, ethical decision-making, and respectful collaboration with students, staff, and campus partners. Develop workplace habits that reflect accountability, initiative, and a commitment to supporting TRIO SSS’s mission. Responsibilities: Conduct outreach to prospective TRIO SSS participants via phone, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions to share program benefits and eligibility information. Represent TRIO SSS at summer orientations, resource fairs, and outreach events; provide accurate program information and referrals. Serve as a student ambassador by promoting TRIO SSS and fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment for prospective students. Share personal college experiences to illustrate the value and impact of TRIO SSS participation. Engage professionally with prospective students by answering questions and supporting informed decision-making about program involvement. Assist in the development and implementation of outreach and marketing strategies to increase program visibility during the summer term. Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, including completion of daily logs and timely submission of weekly timesheets. Contribute feedback to support continuous improvement of TRIO SSS programming and services. Perform other duties as assigned in support of summer programming and outreach efforts. Physical Demands The ability to utilize office equipment, including the standard use of a personal computer/laptop, telephone, and other equipment as required. The ability to lift and transport supplies , such as brochures and applications, from one location to another.

Requirements

• Must be an active TRIO SSS participant
• Knowledgeable of TRIO SSS services and resources
• Must be available on Orientation Days (June- dates TBD )
• Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement form
• Good Academic Standing
• Good communication skills and understanding of phone and online video etiquette
