About The Position

The peer advisors/mentors (PMs) assist the Student Support Services project director, project assistant director and GA in providing academic success coaching and programming to participating students. Responsibilities: The PMs conduct tutoring and coaching sessions in rigorous academic coursework and preparing for tests. PMs provide emotional and academic support to an assigned group of SSS project participants.

Requirements

• Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester.
• Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines.
• Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools.
• Departments may have specific minimum requirements.

Nice To Haves

• The PM should have at least a 2.7 GPA and be at a sophomore/junior level standing with the university.
• The PM should have experiences of engagement with campus/professional organizations or academic clubs.

Responsibilities

• Offers academic and/or well-being support to fellow students, helping them navigate academic, social, or personal challenges.
• Responsibilities may include providing peer counseling, resources, and referrals to other campus services.
