Peeler Operator Operates the pole shaver and related system components in a productive, efficient and safe manner.

Responsibilities

  • Processes barkie poles through shaving machine, clean bark removal and smooth shaves poles.
  • Maintains shaver system equipment including daily service of parts, grease, inspect, and cleaning.
  • Changes and maintains cutter parts, properly sets and calibrates knives for optimum efficiency.
  • Secures operating systems by established start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Documents and reports quality, mechanical and operations production to the supervisor.
  • Assists in maintenance and repair of system equipment as required.
  • Assists in receipt of inbound materials, tally and marks loads, and records information.
  • Assists in inspection and reclassification of round stock as required.
  • Assists in loading and unloading of products, sets dunnage, loads trucks, rail cars and bands loads.
  • Assists in cutting, loading and shipment of salvage logs and firewood.
  • Communicates production quality concerns with appropriate individuals.
  • Participates and contributes to company safety program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
