About The Position

Position Summary: Reporting to the Trauma Program Manager, the Pediatric Trauma Program Manager is responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to injured pediatric patients (ages 18 and under), and is accountable for the comprehensive oversight and coordination of the program. Oversees the Pediatric Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) plan and represents the Pediatric Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees. Ensures full compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) Trauma accreditation standards and serves as the clinical expert guiding multidisciplinary teams in pediatric trauma care. In collaboration with the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director and the Trauma Program Manager, the Program Manager develops and implements protocols, policies, and clinical standards for all aspects of pediatric trauma services. Maintains responsibility for the collection, abstraction, and coding of all pediatric trauma patient data and charts using the ICD-10/AIS data dictionary. Validates all data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission in compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional requirements. In addition, leads pediatric trauma performance improvement activities, supports research initiatives, and participates in community and professional education programs, including courses such as the Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC). Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Trauma Program Manager in line with the scope of this role.

Requirements

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated nursing experience working in an acute care emergency, critical care, or other trauma setting
  • Knowledge of AP style guidelines and ability to quickly learn and apply University of California Irvine style requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to maintain flexibility and work in a constantly changing environment
  • Current California RN license, BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
  • Computer familiarity using Windows and Outlook
  • BSN or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
