Pediatric Psychologist - Levine Children's Hospital - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
About The Position
The rehabilitation psychologist will provide services to children and adolescents who are admitted for interdisciplinary treatment on the inpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) service. Duties will include: Inpatient assessment and consultation to formulate diagnostic impressions and treatment plans; Provide psychotherapeutic intervention to patients throughout their admission; Work collaboratively with other disciplines, including nursing, medical providers, child life specialists, social work, trauma network, and rehab therapies; Facilitate or provide brief psychotherapy follow-up after discharge; Attend care team meeting weekly (2 hours) and 30-minute huddle 3x/week. There will be opportunities for new program development and training of psychology practicum students.
Requirements
- Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from, an APA approved training program required
- license eligible or currently licensed as a Licensed Practicing Psychologist from the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists required
- BLS required per policy guidelines

Responsibilities

- Facilitate or provide brief psychotherapy follow-up after discharge
- Attend care team meeting weekly (2 hours) and 30-minute huddle 3x/week
- Conduct assessments based on clinical interview, presenting information and clinical standards of program.
- Formulate an appropriate diagnosis using standards established in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
- Write appropriate treatment plans according to patient diagnosis, age and clinical presentation.
- Collaborate with appropriate guardians to insure effective service delivery.
- Provide clinical supervision of Psychologist I, predoctoral interns and/or graduate practicum students in the practice of psychology.
- Conduct forensic evaluations and provides court testimony as an expert witness when directed.
- Select, administer, and interprets psychological instruments, including a written report on psychological evaluation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various treatment modalities and theoretical applications based on current clinical standards.
- Write appropriate discharge plans based on individual needs of client and follows through with termination process.
- Manage clients in crisis utilizing appropriate skills and assessment.
