About The Position

Miriam Learning Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Physical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will provide specialized physical therapy services to children and adolescents with diverse learning, behavioral, and physical challenges. Your primary focus will be to improve gross motor function, balance, coordination, and independence, ensuring every child has the physical foundation to succeed in their educational and social environments.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid Missouri State License in Physical Therapy.
  • Strong understanding of childhood development and neurological conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet the sensory and behavioral needs of the child.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Must be able to move frequently, including sitting on the floor, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely lift or assist in the transfer of children as needed (up to 40+ lbs).
  • High level of energy to engage with active pediatric clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in pediatrics or a school-based setting is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation & Assessment: Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations to determine a child's motor development, strength, range of motion, and functional mobility.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans (IEPs or private therapy goals) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
  • Direct Therapy: Provide high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy sessions in both individual and group settings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists to ensure a holistic approach to the child’s development.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely clinical notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries in compliance with state and agency standards.
  • Consultation: Provide equipment recommendations (e.g., orthotics, adaptive seating) and train staff/families on proper handling and positioning techniques.
