The Heart Center at St. Louis Children's Hospital is the region's largest pediatric heart center, nationally recognized as a top heart program. They have extensive experience treating children with common to complex heart issues, from cardiac surgeries and cardiac catheterizations to heart monitoring. They are the region’s go-to heart program for second opinions and referrals for advanced pediatric heart care. The Heart Center Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease in the Intensive Care Unit and on the Transitional Care unit. This patient population includes, but is not limited to, pre and/or post-operative cardiac surgery patients, dysrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, pre and post-operative care of heart and lung transplants, and patients requiring Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) or Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation. They will work collaboratively with the supervising Washington University physician to conduct patient assessments, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems. The Heart Center Nurse Practitioner will participate in the Heart Center medical rounds, including the presentation of clinical information and the progress and management of patients. They will assist with establishing a treatment plan and discharge plan. All Heart Center Nurse Practitioners are provided dedicated time for research, education, and special projects.
