About The Position

Renown Health, Northern Nevada's largest and only not-for-profit healthcare network, is seeking to hire a Pediatric General Surgeon to join the largest multi-specialty department within the Renown Medical Group's Department of Surgery. The incumbent will contribute to the Women's and Children's Service line strategy. The candidate has the potential of ascending to the Division Chief role of the future division of pediatric surgical specialties. The candidate will also qualify for an academic title within the University of Nevada School of Medicine department of Surgery. The ideal Candidate will have completed a General Surgery residency and Pediatric Surgery Fellowship with Board Certification or Eligibility with adequately focused general, ACS, and elective surgery experience with a minimum of three (3) years of pediatric general clinical surgery practice experience, pediatric trauma, and surgical oncology. Core Responsibilities will include being a productive and participating member of the Department of Surgery Renown Medical Group under the leadership of the Chair of Surgery, Vice Chair of Surgery, teaching of medical students and residents, contribute to future strategy, and work closely with the pediatric service line leads in accomplishing identified strategies. Renown Health and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) are affiliate partners in Nevada's first integrated academic health system. The affiliation aims to improve the health of the community, region, and state through research, medical education, and expanded clinical care. Renown physicians participate as joint faculty at UNR Med for teaching, lectures, supervising clinical rotations, and other academic activities for the education of medical and physician assistant students, residents, and fellows.

Requirements

  • Completed a General Surgery residency and Pediatric Surgery Fellowship
  • Board Certification or Eligibility
  • Adequately focused general, ACS, and elective surgery experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of pediatric general clinical surgery practice experience, pediatric trauma, and surgical oncology

Responsibilities

  • Being a productive and participating member of the Department of Surgery Renown Medical Group under the leadership of the Chair of Surgery, Vice Chair of Surgery
  • Teaching of medical students and residents
  • Contribute to future strategy
  • Work closely with the pediatric service line leads in accomplishing identified strategies
  • Actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff
  • Stay abreast of current advances in Pediatric Surgery by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field
