About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a pediatric echocardiographer to join our team at our University of Minnesota Children's Masonic location in Minneapolis, MN. The Echocardiographer performs non-invasive cardiac diagnostic imaging using ultrasound technology to aid the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases. As a Pediatric Echocardiographer, you will need to have the ability to evaluate pediatric patients with complex congenital heart disease, have basic knowledge of the incidence, causes, inheritance patterns, and pathologic consequences of congenital malformations, and have basic knowledge of the 3 major categories of corrective procedures and the variations encountered. Schedule: This position will work 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every two weeks, 8 hour long day shifts with a weekend rotation as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Non-Invasive Imaging or an associate degree in related clinical field, couple with seven (7) years of pediatric sonographer experience.
  • 5 years of Pediatric Echocardiography experience
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - adult, pediatric
  • BLS Certification within 3 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating the ability to evaluate the cardiac status by using a logical and systematic approach to analyze the heart and related structures segmentally.
  • Evaluating pediatric patients with complex congenital heart disease
  • Providing relevant echocardiographic data, making quantitative calculations and communicating the impressions for the physicians.
  • Accurately Document a preliminary echocardiogram report
  • Demonstrating extensive knowledge of the incidence, causes, inheritance patterns, and pathologic consequences of congenital malformations
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making.
  • Communicates in a respective manner.
  • Ensures a safe, secure environment.
  • Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs.
  • Modifies clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver.
  • Completes all required learning relevant to the role.
  • Complies with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
