Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located at our NY Cares school in Mount Kisco, NY, this position plans and implements gross motor movement activities for students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders in the areas of health, fitness, and play. When not engaged in gross motor classes, this position will support the participation of one student in their classroom routine. The PE Teacher/Aide will assess each student’s proficiency in the areas of strength, endurance, balance and flexibility on a regular basis, providing this information to the student’s teacher for reporting as requested. In addition, they will Implement instruction in gross motor skills necessary for development, targeting areas of strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility. The PE Teacher/Aide will consult with teachers, occupational and/or physical therapists as appropriate when developing activities for students and will establish a safe environment conducive to maximum learning by maintaining order and guiding students to socially appropriate behavior. When assigned to support one student in their classroom, this position will be responsible for maintaining their safety and participation in classroom routines (this may include: data collection, implementation of behavior plans, instructing the student in learned skills, toileting support, other tasks as needed). Location: NY Cares, Mount Kisco, NY Salary: $23.35 - $24.98, commensurate with education and experience This is a part-time position (approx. 30-32 hours per week).
