About The Position

The PDL CNC Prototype Machinist adjusts and operates lathes, milling machines, and computer numerically controlled machines, including 3D printers, to produce small quantities of prototype parts, temporary dies, models, and patterns in accordance with prints, sketches, or concepts. Day Shift: Monday - Friday with flexible start times Starting Pay: $32.52 – $40.67 per hour, based on experience What Will You Do? Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of proven machining experience.
  • Two or more years of proven CNC programming experience.
  • This position requires a minimum of 48 months of combined experience in machining and CNC programming to be proficient in all aspects of the job.
  • Core skills training in basic shop math, measuring tools, blueprint reading, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing or demonstrated equivalent knowledge is required.
  • Proven previous machining experience on engine lathes, standard milling machines, and grinders.
  • Additional classes: CNC Progressional Training or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and proven previous experience in CNC programming and equipment operation.
  • Must be capable of using advanced mathematics, geometry, tables and handbook formulas.
  • Knowledge in the use of respective inspection instruments required to inspect own parts.
  • Trade knowledge in areas such as tool and die, jig and fixture, etc. helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Must determine correct processes, machining sequences, and tooling requirements.
  • Must do own programming, editing, and offset adjustments on all CNC equipment.
  • Must be able to visualize, design and produce work holding and / or special tools required during the machining process utilizing current CAD and CAM software systems that are active in the PDL.
  • Must operate any auxiliary equipment required.
  • Does layout work to assist in development or review of prints and parts.
  • Must perform total preventative maintenance of associated equipment.
  • Parts must be made to print and process specifications.
  • Responsible for own set-ups and inspection of parts produced.
  • Responsible for following safety rules, producing quality workmanship, and for good housekeeping in and around the work area.
  • Completion of all associated paper work and record keeping as required.
