About The Position

The Upholstery Pattern Maker is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving upholstery patterns that support efficient, high-quality production of upholstered furniture. This role combines technical expertise with creativity to translate design concepts into accurate, production-ready patterns. Working closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, the Pattern Maker ensures that patterns drive consistency, minimize waste, and support on-time delivery to our customers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Upholstery Pattern Maker, Pattern Technician, or related role in furniture manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of upholstery construction, sewing techniques, and fabric behavior.
  • Proficiency with CAD software for pattern drafting (Gerber, AutoCAD, Lectra, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, product specs, and prototypes.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to extract data from Morgan MD Pattern Design and Lectra Formaris Furniture models to design fabric pattern components is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, digitize, and update upholstery patterns for frames, cushions, and trims based on new product designs and revisions.
  • Ability to extract data from Morgan MD Pattern Design and Lectra Formaris Furniture models to design fabric pattern components is a plus.
  • Accurately interpret the designer's shape and contour details from 2-dimensional drawings and
  • Ensure accuracy, fit, and functionality of all patterns through prototype and sample validation.
  • Maintain an organized digital and physical library of patterns, ensuring accessibility and version control.
  • Partner with Product Development to translate design intent into manufacturable patterns.
  • Work with Upholstery, Sewing, and Cutting teams to refine patterns for efficiency and production readiness.
  • Provide input during design reviews to identify potential challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Apply Lean principles to minimize fabric waste, optimize material usage, and improve workflow.
  • Evaluate and adjust patterns for ergonomic assembly, product durability, and aesthetic consistency.
  • Support problem-solving when pattern-related quality or fit issues arise in production.
