About The Position

This role involves providing help desk support, troubleshooting and repairing PC software and hardware, and setting up and installing personal computers. The position requires knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office Platform, and Adobe Acrobat software. Key tasks include deploying operating system images to PCs and deploying mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets, and parts scanners. Additionally, the role assists the IS Manager, Network Administrator, and DBS Administrator with the installation and maintenance of various IT hardware including routers, switches, servers, cabling, and phones. The PC Support person will also diagnose printer malfunctions and coordinate with third-party managed print providers, and participate in a rotating on-call schedule. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of hands on experience supporting personal computers in a business environment.
  • Solid understanding of personal computer systems and software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 operating systems, Microsoft Office and antivirus software.
  • Basic Understanding of the Apple iOS and Android mobile operating system platforms.
  • Ability to learn Caterpillar and third-party software applications.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new developments in personal computer technology.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills required.
  • Company supplied MSHA training may be required to support users at mine site locations.

Responsibilities

  • Answer help desk phone and input support issues into tracking system.
  • Troubleshooting and repair PC software and hardware issues.
  • Setup and installation of personal computers.
  • Deploy operating system image to PC’s.
  • Deploy mobile devices, cell phones, tablets, and parts scanners.
  • Assist IS Manager, Network Administrator, DBS Administrator with installation and maintenance of routers, switches, servers, cabling, phones, and other IT hardware as needed.
  • Diagnose printer malfunctions and notify third party managed print provider.
  • Support rotating on call schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.
