About The Position

This position is responsible for scheduling production on primary manufacturing equipment. Forecasting and releasing raw material to the facility, ensuring inventory levels are maintained under company targets with no stock outages. Continuous Improvement of processes is an ongoing function of this position. Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Makes reasoned decisions in the execution of materials processes (authority to take action deemed necessary); identifies, analyzes, and recommends solutions for exception and variance situations • Assists in the development and implementation of programs and policies, e.g. inventory reduction, cash flow, supplier development, etc. • Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and develops recommendations based on quantitative analysis (as appropriate, gain approval and participate in implementation). • May function as team leader or project manager. • Develops programs at the plant operations level or for specific programs at a division level. • Analyzes, recommends, and implements improvement plans for: o Outside process Materials handling and movement o Staging and storage systems o Outside processMaterial flow studies o Slow-moving inventory o Obsolescence o Outside process Inventory turns o QC hold • Analyzes ship requirements and makes recommendations and requests to outside processors to cover customer shipments and manage WIP levels.. • Advises forecast adjustments to the supply base to ensure supplier inventory levels are aligned with current and future production requirements. Executes daily shortage list and call. Organizes some freight between processes. • Reviews short-term (4 weeks) capacity constraints and recommends corrective actions to eliminate constraints and other process bottlenecks.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree, or evident appropriate skill and knowledge
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Production/Materials Planner
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills

Nice To Haves

  • Fastener/Manufacturing industry experience
  • Previous experience in Continuous Improvement and value stream mapping
