About The Position

Responsible for operating appropriate telecommunication equipment to provide communication services for the entire hospital. The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as phones, computers, copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multi-line phone system.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm, professional manner.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to read and write legibly.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience in customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Operates telecommunication equipment to provide communication service to hospital departments, patient care areas, and physicians.
  • Receives incoming calls and connects them as requested.
  • Monitors alarms such as fire, emergency, security, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Announces emergency codes and activates pagers and other communication devices.
  • Relays and route written and verbal messages.
  • Identifies problems with communication devices and takes appropriate action.
  • Documents required information in appropriate logs
  • Utilizes crisis intervention skills when dealing with callers/emergency situations.
