About The Position

The Patient Benefit Counselor Regional Manager (North) is directly responsible for Patient Benefit Counselors located at Irby Medical Plaza ensuring staff are compliant in all aspects of financial assistance programs and registration processes for new and established patients. This position also will monitor the progress of Patient Benefit Counselors for PBC related performance adherence, collaborating with their direct managers and leadership teams in the North Region to include Pine Needles, Second Loop, Timmonsville, FMU, Palmetto, and Bethea.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Three years Patient Benefit Counselor or similar experience required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong active listening skills, attention to detail, and decision-making skills are required
  • Pleasant, friendly attitude with the ability to adapt to change is essential
  • Superior problem- solving abilities are required
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of leadership is essential
  • Possess the ability to work with patients, clinical, non-clinical staff and providers from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles while maintaining a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and be well organized.
  • Prior to performing job related activities in this position, one must understand company and program policies, procedures, regulations, protocols being a role model for HopeHealth’s mission, vision and values.
  • Will be required to complete the HopeHealth Patient Benefits Counselor (PBC) certification training within six months of accepting this position and pass the PBC Certification Examination.
  • Complete training on the PBM Pharmacy Management System
  • Complete training and become certified as an Affordable Care Act Counselor (CAC)
  • Complete training of SC Thrive and remain current on the training and utilization of the system for the duration of the position
  • Ability to communicate effectively utilizing both oral and written skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and handle various tasks simultaneously while working efficiently, effectively, and independently
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite specifically Excel, Word, Access and Power Point.
  • Knowledge of database i.e. EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system. Experience with eCW (eClinical Works) preferred.
  • Must possess a current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily tasks and expectations of the Patient Benefit Counselors under their direct supervision.
  • Complete a monthly, documented coaching session for direct reports and PBC’s under the North region collaborating with the corresponding Managers and Leadership team.
  • Maintain a positive and open environment among the staff and with other employees.
  • Meet regularly with the Finance Director of Cash Management
  • Provide guidance and promote the standard PBC workflow and best practices on the team.
  • Work collaboratively with department leaders and training department by providing input on the standard PBC workflow.
  • Maintain the skill set to perform all the essential PBC job functions.
  • Participation in training opportunities to enhance knowledge such as conferences and continuing education / in-service events.
  • Ability to travel to different organizational sites as well as training opportunities, as needed.
