About The Position

The Payroll Supervisor oversees day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring compliance, accurate and timely processing of employee compensation for all company entities. Working in collaboration with the Payroll Director, the Payroll Supervisor is responsible for continuous review and monitoring of payroll activities, ensuring compliance with various federal, state, and city requirements, provisions, legal opinions, and procedures while ensuring accuracy of payroll information and reports.

Requirements

  • Expertise in federal, state, and local payroll laws and multi-state compliance requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll practices, procedures, and supervisory principles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to audit, interpret, and verify payroll data accurately
  • Advanced proficiency in computerized accounting systems, general software applications, and ten-key by touch
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, proofreading, and record-review capabilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • The ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment as a highly organized, self-motivated professional
  • Proven experience in payroll management and staff supervision
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years payroll processing and reconciliation experience.
  • Minimum three years prior supervisory experience in the payroll area OR any equivalent. combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a dedicated team of payroll staff, ensuring efficient allocation and completion of tasks.
  • Provide both written and verbal training on payroll systems and best practices.
  • Plan, direct, and organize payroll activities across multiple specialized functions.
  • Ensure accurate processing of payroll cycles, including complex calculations and collaboration with vendors.
  • Maintain adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Oversee payroll transactions and adjustments to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Address and resolve payroll inquiries and issues with professionalism.
  • Collaborate with vendors and troubleshoot electronic timekeeping systems.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports and support audits.
  • Work alongside the Payroll Director to enhance systems and processes, recommending and implementing improvements.
