About The Position

The Payroll Supervisor oversees day-to-day payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. This role supervises payroll staff, ensures adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, and serves as a subject matter expert for payroll-related matters. The Payroll Supervisor partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to support organizational goals and maintain payroll integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations (FLSA, state wage laws, tax requirements)
  • Experience with payroll systems and timekeeping platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting tools

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support payroll staff, including training, workload management, and performance oversight
  • Prepare, review and approve payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and bonus payrolls
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour, and tax regulations
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations, audits, and reporting
  • Review and resolve payroll discrepancies, adjustments, and employee inquiries
  • Ensure accurate processing of terminations, final pay, PTO payouts, garnishments, and retroactive pay
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings, year-end processing (W-2s), and vendor relationships
  • Partner with HR on employee data changes, benefits deductions, and policy interpretation
  • Develop, document, and improve payroll processes and internal controls
  • Support payroll-related system implementations, upgrades, and testing
  • Assist with internal and external audits and provide requested payroll documentation
  • Communicates collaboratively with other department managers and leaders.
