About The Position

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of payroll operations across the U.S. This role provides hands-on leadership of payroll processing, supports critical compensation events (including merit and bonus payouts), and ensures adherence to federal, state/provincial, and local regulations. This position plays a key role in maintaining payroll integrity, enhancing processes, and partnering closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver a seamless employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll processing experience including multi-state U.S. payroll
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll laws and regulations (Federal, State, and Local)
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, particularly Workday
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Leadership and team management capabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of 401(k) administration and benefits management
  • Experience with payroll audits and compliance requirements
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Advanced Excel skills and reporting capabilities

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of experience providing supervisory support.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for the U.S. ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Review and validate payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, and off-cycle payments.
  • Lead payroll activities for key compensation cycles, including annual merit increases and incentive/bonus payouts.
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of payroll data, including earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Manage payroll calendars, deadlines, and processing schedules
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and regulatory changes.
  • Support internal and external audits, including SOX controls where applicable.
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all payroll transactions
  • Partner with HR Partners, Total Rewards, and Finance Teams to ensure alignment on pay-related activities.
  • Collaborate with HRIS teams on data integrity, system updates, and process improvements.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll vendors (e.g., ADP, Workday Payroll, Ceridian, Timekeeping Systems, etc.)
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to payroll team members (e.g., Payroll Specialist).
  • Serve as an escalation point for payroll-related inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Support training and development of team members to build payroll capability and continuity
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency.
  • Support payroll-related projects, including system enhancements, integrations, and process standardization.
  • Contribute to broader HR initiatives such as job architecture, compensation structure updates, and system implementations
