About The Position

Temporary assignment with NAHR Payroll Team as a Payroll Strategy & Operations Lead working onsite 5 days a week (Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM EST) at 111 Sylvan Ave Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Potential for temp to perm conversion contingent upon successful performance. Lead the transformation of payroll operations by revamping and modernizing end-to-end processes that support employees across 40+ U.S. states. This role focuses on reimagining payroll workflows, pay rules, and compliance settings to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance at scale. As a key strategic leader with hands-on operational expertise, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize system configuration, and align payroll practices with organizational goals. This position requires a forward-thinking approach to process design, leveraging technology and best practices to deliver a seamless payroll experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in payroll operations, with a focus on process improvement and system configuration
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, tax compliance, and multi-state payroll requirements
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g. UKG, ADP, Workday) and HRIS integration
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and influence stakeholders across functions

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive payroll process redesign initiatives, focusing on payroll data workflows, system configurations, and records management
  • Analyze current processes, identify gaps, and develop solutions to improve accuracy
  • Redesign processes to optimize payroll process efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate payroll processes with HRIS, HRBP, timekeeping, and financial systems
  • Develop documentation, process maps, and training materials for new workflows
