About The Position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all payroll related activities for both exempt and nonexempt employees in a multi-state organization.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS/payroll/timekeeping systems (currently utilizing ADP)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic accounting packages.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read complex documents and understand federal, state and local tax and garnishment withholding laws.
  • Excellent communications and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with employees and managers at all levels including executives.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Minimum Education Required: Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent work-related experience of 4 years.
  • Minimum Work Experience Required: 2 years’ experience processing multi-state payroll.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify and enter all payroll data for exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Direct business check and ach processing, including research with vendors.
  • Maintain payroll files for new hires, terminations and rate changes.
  • Maintain and update payroll calendar.
  • Maintain and update state termination payout requirements
  • Reconcile direct business to bank account.
  • Process bonus and additional salary payments.
  • Process employee recoveries.
  • Works on special projects, audits, mandatory notices and compliance reporting and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Responds to all employee inquiries regarding payroll and deductions.
  • Maintain HVAC maintenance schedules and coordinate improvements for branch locations.
