About The Position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for all employees using Paycom. This role ensures compliance with California wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and company policies. The Payroll Specialist also assists with employee inquiries, timekeeping accuracy, and payroll-related reporting.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of payroll experience (weekly payroll processing strongly preferred).
  • Hands-on Paycom experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of California payroll regulations, including overtime, meal/rest period compliance, and termination pay.
  • High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet strict weekly deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Process and transmit weekly payroll for employees through Paycom, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and reconcile employee timecards, PTO, overtime, and premium pay in compliance with California wage and hour requirements (overtime, meal/rest breaks, split shifts, reporting time pay, and final paychecks).
  • Enter and update payroll records for new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, and garnishments.
  • Audit payroll for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and maintain organized records.
  • Prepare and distribute California-compliant wage statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll tax filings and related reports in coordination with Paycom.
  • Provide payroll-related reporting and support to HR and management as needed.
  • Assist employees with Paycom self-service functions, including direct deposit, W-2 access, and paystub inquiries.
  • Stay current with California payroll laws and wage/hour compliance updates.
