About The Position

This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations across U.S. and Canadian entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will handle complex payroll calculations, benefit deductions, equity administration, and year-end processes, while serving as a key liaison with PEO partners. The position requires collaboration with People and Finance teams to implement SOX-compliant processes and support audits. The ideal candidate combines meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proactive problem-solving. You will also contribute to process improvements and system enhancements to scale global payroll operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Payroll Certification (PCP or PCM) required.
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience covering U.S. and Canadian payroll operations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing payroll-related benefits including RRSP/401(k), equity, and taxable benefits.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex payroll calculations, including retroactive payments, accruals, terminations, and prorations.
  • Experience working with PEO environments (TriNet preferred) and payroll systems such as ADP WorkForceNow; system implementation experience is a plus.
  • Strong experience supporting payroll audits, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of urgency, proactivity, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Administer payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees, including semi-monthly payroll, ad hoc payments, terminations, and severance.
  • Calculate wages, deductions, vacation accruals, and other payroll-related amounts accurately.
  • Manage year-end payroll processes and prepare tax documents such as W-2s and T4s.
  • Administer payroll components of benefits programs, including RRSP, 401(k), equity plans, and taxable benefits.
  • Serve as the primary contact for PEO partners, ensuring data accuracy, issue resolution, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with People and Finance teams to implement SOX-compliant payroll processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Prepare payroll reports, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses to support month-end and year-end close.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, reconciliations, and explanations as needed.
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements, system implementations, and special projects.
