About The Position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate, timely, and compliant payroll using Workday Payroll. This role supports the full payroll cycle, ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations, and serves as a key partner to HR and Finance. Must be detailed oriented, deadline-driven, and experienced in leveraging Workday to streamline payroll operations and resolve payroll-related issues.

Requirements

  • Proficient in payroll processing and tax reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret payroll and tax records.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required but may be substituted with two years of related experience for each year of education.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in payroll and tax functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Workday and ADP SmartCompliance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll using Workday Payroll for multi-state, exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Maintain and audit employee payroll data in Workday, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and garnishments.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy by reviewing earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits prior to payroll finalization.
  • Partner with HR to ensure data integrity between Workday HCM, Benefits, and Payroll Modules.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely, professional, and confidential manner.
  • Maintain Payroll Department Email
  • Assist Payroll Manager with Audit of payroll tax returns, statements, and other required reports at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll tax legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare paperwork and documentation for payroll tax submissions to ADP Smart Compliance.
  • Full proficiency in payroll tax disciplines.
  • Perform basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle.
  • Respond to pay-related inquiries from staff and resolve errors or omissions.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and forms for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support and recommendations for payroll and tax-related issues as needed.
  • Follow all processing procedures and adhere to company policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and tax information.
  • Assist HR/Benefits/Payroll with all HCM related tasks as needed
